WARDOGS Crash When Loading a Map: Troubleshooting Checklist
TROUBLESHOOTING FLOW
Separate a service problem from a server problem from a local crash
The current source set does not establish one universal cause for map-loading crashes. Use a controlled triage sequence instead of deleting files at random.
First checkService / maintenance
Second checkAnother server
Local repairVerify only after reproducing
Triage in this order
Why the service check comes first
Launch-period official updates acknowledged server-join failures, unexpected kicks and long login queues. Those are not the same thing as a local map-loading crash, but they prove that a failed session can originate outside the local game files.
Safe local checks
- Confirm your PC meets the published minimum requirements.
- Update the GPU driver and Windows.
- Restart Steam and the game.
- Verify files through Steam.
- Temporarily disable nonessential overlays for one test.
Avoid unsafe or low-evidence fixes
This Wiki does not recommend deleting undocumented configuration folders, modifying anti-cheat internals or downloading third-party “repair” packages. Those steps are difficult to validate and can introduce a second problem before the first one is understood.
